The Story Behind The EP Photo
This is the artwork for our upcoming holiday EP “What Money Can’t Buy.” A few weeks ago, when we were in the studio tracking the songs for this release, John and I got to talking about what we were gonna put on the cover. He casually asked “do you have any cool photos saved on your computer?” I said “maybe,” so I started browsing through my albums. I had a bunch of photos I took two years ago on tour of a bad snowstorm we ran into somewhere in Montana and this being a holiday release, I was naturally drawn to these snow covered photos. I was showing John a picture of a lone pine tree covered in snow, when he saw another photo a couple shots down. He asked me what it was, and honestly, I had no idea, so I enlarged the image to check it out.
It turned out to be a picture I took a few years back on the streets of Seattle with my girlfriend at that time. I think we were trying to get a full body shot of us, faces and all, but instead it turned out like this. It’s really kind of obscure, you can see the streetlights, the faint outline of cars, and the blur of our legs. For some reason we were drawn to it, it just seemed to work, so we went with it.
I remember the night that photo was taken, that feeling of being loved, it’s something money can’t buy. Thinking about it now, that photo fits the title perfectly.
